Have I mentioned that we are moving? Still staying in Georgia…but downsizing in land size. Think it’s time for us to move to an actual neighborhood. We started out in California living on a postage stamp size plot of land and then moved to the East coast where we raised our children on 15 beautiful acres. Since then we downsized to Georgia and four acres…and now it’s time to move again. Really do hate this getting old part of life. We have been going crazy doing all the things around the house at the last minute, that we should have kept up on all along…but didn’t. Cleaning, painting…keeping everything spotless…all the time…24/7 just in case anyone should want to drop by to see the house. Sooooo anyway getting back to my favorite topic…food…my grandson and husband were super hungry after working outside all day long getting the property “pretty” to sell…and I thought…what can I make that is amazing, and that they will love, but only takes 15 minutes to make. And I thought of Steak-umms. I haven’t fixed them in I don’t know, probably 20 years. But man were they good…and by good I mean really great! Soooo easy and quick too, so I wanted to share it with you.
This package probably would serve six or seven normal people easily. The way I filled them…which was super huge, filled two gigantic hoagies and there were enough leftovers for two more.
I simply sliced one onion, and one bell pepper and added the Steak-umms to a large fry pan with two tablespoons of olive oil and two tablespoons of butter.
Salt and Pepper to taste…about two teaspoons each
One onion and one bell pepper sliced thinly
Pour one fourth cup Marsala Wine…pour it right over the meat
I found these peppers in Atlanta GA at a Pizza Restaurant called Antico…they are Calabrian Peppers…they are semi hot in Olive Oil and are…delicious! But you could use any pepper you want…Pettracini peppers would be great…or don’t use any at all.
Added four hot peppers to the Ssteak-ums, onions and bell pepper
The meat, onion, bell pepper and hot peppers are all cooking together and should be done in just minutes.
Any Hoagie roll will do, but my husband just happened to make these fresh rolls today….so absolutely that is what I wanted to use.
One handful of mozzarella cheese right on top of the meat in the pan…it will melt and be soooo incredibly good!
Now it’s time to toast the bread and make a mayo dressing. Three tablespoons of mayonaise.
Two tablespoons Chili sauce….mix together and spread on your toasted bread.
Just a little bit spicy and perfect for the sandwich
This mouth watering sandwich was warm, a little spicy, full of flavor and ready in fifteen minutes!
Matthew loves to eat! And he really enjoyed this. I love being the house that my grandson loves to come to for something great to eat!
