BLOGGING – LIVING IN DAHLONEGA

I have been horrible, really bad about getting on my blog to add new recipes. I have used so many excuses, all that I could possibly think of actually, but now that I can’t find any more and now that I am all settled here in our new home and understand this new laptop…kind of…I will get some new recipes put on here. This is the first time that my husband are just the two of us since our first child was born, and that was years and years ago! We’ve had a house full of children, and daycare, and a mother in law and a daughter and granddaughter moving back home and a mother move in with us, so many changes have taken place. Before we moved here I cooked double batches, now my freezer is my new friend. I cook small but it’s fun because I’m making the things I want and what sounds good at the time.

I love Dahlonega, love the mountains of Georgia and love our home. The views are incredible, out every single window! Daily we see deer, squirrels, birds, it’s wonderful. We are three hours from the kids, but when they come we get to wait on them and cook for them and take them to beautiful waterfalls that surround the area. We love our little downtown, the small shops, and restaurants, people playing instruments in the small town square. There is tubing down the river not even 5 minutes from the house and it has been so fun to pan for gold and make our own jewelry. Going into the candy store in town, Paul Thomas was so fun, seeing the train run along the ceiling and ordering strawberries covered in chocolate and truffles…so fun. Every single morning we wake up and say “I love this house” and we do…just wish the kids were closer.

Our incredible Terrace, our first meal in the new house of Shrimp Louis, the wonderful carriage in the downtown square at Christmas time, Amacalola Falls which is an amazing hotel on the very top of the mountain, my husband and I floating down the river, our table set for company on the terrace and in the dining room, learning how to zip line, and the beautiful falls that we visited over and over again.
