Easy, sooo delicious and easy to make in the oven.
INGREDIENTS:
Ham with the bone in, One about 8 pounds
Brown Sugar, 2 Cups
Coke, 1 can
Grape Juice, 1 Cup
Pineapple Sliced, drained with the juice reserved
DIRECTIONS:
Pre heat the oven to 325 degrees, or start the grill to come up to the same temp. It’s great both ways. Actually the best part of ham is making split pea soup the next day…but that’s another recipe.
Score the ham in a diagonal pattern cutting the lines about one inch apart. (We started with a spiral ham and made these additional cuts)
In a large roasting pan, place the ham and pat the brown sugar over the entire surface.
Bake the ham until the sugar is melting off, which takes about 30 minutes. Remove from the heat and pour the combined coke, grape juice and juice from the pineapple mixture over the ham.
Baste the ham with the mixture and return it to the heat.
Continue to bake, basting about every 20 minutes for approximately two hours.
When the ham is fully cooked, remove from the heat and float the pineapple rings in the drippings to absorb all the wonderful flavor of the juices.
After the ham has rested for ten minutes, slice and serve. Drizzle over the sliced meat and serve on the side for those who want additional.
I really wanted to share this glaze that I found for a ham, because it turned out so incredibly moist and tender.
Not only was I thrilled with the way it turned out, but our family raved about how great it was and wants us to make it this way from now on.
I really hope you love it as much as we do.
The brown sugar is completely covering the ham, and it is ready to go on the grill.
The ham will cook on the grill for 30 minutes.
Combine the coke, grape juice and the juice from the pineapple
Pour all of the juice over the ham, and return to the heat.
Baste about every twenty minutes, this will make the meat unbelievably tender and juicy.
After the ham has cooked for two hours, put the pineapple rings right in the juice to absorb the wonderful flavor, and you are ready to enjoy a marvelous dinner.
We had seventeen today…table is set and ready for everyone to arrive.
Along with the ham, there were homemade rolls, mashed potatoes, green salad, peas…because we are all weird and like to mix peas in our mashed potatoes…green bean casserole, sliced
pineapple and the wonderful juice that the ham cooked in.
Now if I can just get everyone to sit down and eat while the food is still warm.
Our adorable granddaughter Natalie just loves to get in the pictures. 🙂
I really hope you will try this one, and if you do, you will seriously never have to worry about having dry ham again.
Wouldn’t you know that I forgot to drizzle the incredible sauce over the ham for this picture, but I promise you, not only was it on there, but it was the flavor that made this dinner go from being great to outstanding.
